Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have any
experience with horses?
Nope! We will begin each session with a quick safety overview, and will instruct you on how to safely interact with the horse. If at any point we see something unsafe, or a cue from the horse that it is uncomfortable with what is going on , we'll let you know immediately. All sessions are currently unmounted, so no riding experience is necessary.
If you've never been around a horse in your life, or are even afraid of them, they can still help you. We will work together as a team to help you achieve your goals.

What should I wear/ bring?
Long pants and sturdy, close-toed footwear are mandatory at all times on the farm, regardless of the weather. Jeans and riding or hiking boots are ideal, but not necessary; any sturdy shoes and long pants will do. Just make sure you don't mind getting them dirty!
Please also dress with the weather in mind, as we will likely be outside.
If you'd like, you may also bring a journal and pen, and a water bottle.

Do I need any special equipment?
No. As long as you are dressed appropriately, you don't need any special equipment. Most of our sessions are done with very little equipment or props, and all will be provided by us.
We may occasionally ask you to bring something for a session ( a photograph, for example), but that will be discussed beforehand.
What about a helmet?
As all of our sessions are currently unmounted, helmets are not necessary for teens /adults (they are recommended for children, however). If you wish to wear a helmet though, we will never say no. You can bring your own certified equestrian helmet, or contact us to see what we have available/ how we may accommodate you.
If/when we offer sessions with a mounted component, a certified riding helmet will be mandatory at all times while mounted, and will be supplied.
Is smoking allowed on the property?
Smoking is not permitted on the property. Things like hay and bedding are extremely flammable, and horses have sensitive airways!
Can I bring my child?
Unless the session is for your child, please find alternate supervision for them. Our focus and yours should be on what is happening in the session, and children can be a distraction. Also, the barn is not the best place for children to roam around unattended!

Can I bring my dog?
Please leave your pets at home.
